VERDICT: Users were pleased with all the built-in features and large embroidery area. If you have experience and patience and will be working on big projects, this is the best machine on the market for less than $600.

  • LED touch screen
  • Auto thread cutter and auto needle threader
  • User-friendly
  • $300

CONS

  • Small embroidery area (4×4″)
  • Does not connect well with Apple computers

VERDICT: Users loved the price and all the features. Choose this machine if you’re a beginner and/or on a budget.

  • Versatile
  • Back-lit LCD touch screen
  • Built-in library
  • Auto needle threader and auto thread cutter

CONS

  • Small embroidery area (4×4″)
  • Machine can be finicky (i.e. needle threader not working or machine not locking thread at the beginning and end of each letter during monogramming)

VERDICT: Similar to the SE400, the only real advantage this one offers is the travel bag. Otherwise, choose the cheaper and better SE400.
