Do you suffer from baggy or hooded eyes? Have you looked in the mirror lately and noticed signs of aging like crow’s feet, dark circles, puffiness, and redness? Your eyes are one of the first areas to betray your age, especially if you’ve been through a lot of stress without adequate sleep. By improving the small, delicate area around your eyes, you can erase years from your appearance. Olay is known for their gentle formulas, affordable price, and wide availability. Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum
For just $18.91 on Amazon (or $22.99 on Olay.com), you can purchase a half-ounce tube of Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum. When used properly, this serum will brighten the eye area and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Additional benefits include hydration, firming, restoration of natural glow, lifting, and smoothing (especially corners of the eyes). Expect results in just 2 weeks!
What makes this product stand out is that it works as an exfoliator to encourage skin turnover, meaning that old skin is shed and newer, younger skin emerges. Ideally, this serum should be used twice per day after cleansing. Using a fingertip, place dots of the product around the eyes (including eyelids) and then gently smooth into the skin.
The Regenerist formula includes a powerful amino peptide complex along with Vitamins B3, B5, and E. The product has no fragrance, absorbs quickly, and is not greasy. The Olay website describes Regenerist as “velvety.” The product applicator uses a pump, which ensures that bacteria is not transferred from product to eye and vice versa.
Complete your skincare routine by using this product in conjunction with other Regenerist products: Regenerating Cream Cleanser, Micro-Sculpting Serum, Micro-Sculpting Cream Moisturizer, and Detoxifying Pore Scrub.
Recommended by drugstores, Regenerist has a 4/5 star rating. Users note that it is especially good for reducing the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, and redness. This product is great for sensitive skin and also works as a moisturizer. Customers noticed tighter, younger looking skin after about 2 weeks of use. The only bad thing is that the bottle doesn’t last long. Consumers were surprised that Olay’s product worked much better than expensive competitors. This serum goes on smoothly beneath foundation and will not clog pores, even on individuals with oily skin.
Olay Professional ProX Eye Restoration Complex Anti-Aging
Amazon sells ProX for $15.96 (half ounce bottle). The Olay website offers this anti-aging complex for just under $30. Benefits include:
- Reduction of puffiness and dark circles
- Renewed, younger look in the eye area
- Smoothing of crow’s feet
ProX is an anti-aging line created by dermatologists along with Olay scientists. ProX Eye Restoration Complex is a blend of anti-aging ingredients and is meant to be used twice daily. Apply to the eyelid, corners of the eye, and suborbital area. Massage the product gently into your skin. Olay recommends users combine this product with others in the ProX line: Advanced Cleansing System, Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser Anti-Aging Hydra Firming Cream, and Deep Wrinkle Treatment. The ProX line is designed to be used as a set.
Most users were pleased with ProX, giving it a 4/5 star rating. After 3-4 weeks of consistent use, men and women noticed a reduction in fine lines, redness, puffiness, and dark circles along with tighter eyelid skin. You don’t need to use much of this complex, so the bottle will last. Consumers were surprised that ProX produced better results than pricey competitors. ProX is easy to apply and includes SPF 30.
Those who disliked ProX said it did nothing to help “crepey” eyelids and that the hydration effect lasted only a few hours. This eye restoration product is great for all skin tones and will not irritate sensitive skin.
Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Eye Treatment
For just $14.34 on Amazon, you can purchase half an ounce of Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Eye Treatment. The official Olay website sells the same product for $21.99. Total Effects is an all-in-one product that fights 7 signs of aging in the eye area to give the user a youthful, vibrant tone. The 7 signs of aging are:
- Crow’s feet/ fine wrinkles
- Dark circles
- Uneven skin tone
- Rough texture
This eye treatment can be used on normal, dry, and combination/oily skin. Olay suggests users pair this cream with the following products from the same Olay line: Refreshing Citrus Scrub, Anti-Aging Moisturizer with SPF 30, and Advanced Anti-Aging Deep Penetrating Moisture Body Wash.
This cream’s formula is packed with vitamins, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t include oil.
Users rated Total Effects a 4/5. Application was easy and smooth. You don’t need to use much (1 jar can last up to a year). The formula has no perfume and isn’t greasy or sticky. It’s made for the eyes, but works well to hydrate the whole face if you choose. Total Effects has no unpleasant side effects, even for those who are prone to breakouts.
This eye treatment has a shimmery tint to it that some women didn’t like. Many users mentioned that you could see this “shimmer” beneath makeup. Several reviews mentioned that Olay Regenerist was better than Total Effects. Users didn’t like that the “brightening” effect was purely cosmetic (due to the tint). Several users saw no results, but those who did noticed them after just one week. There is a slightly higher chance of allergic reaction with this cream than with the other two Olay products.
The three products above are quite similar and all in the same price range (less than $30). However, based on customer reviews, I’d say that the first product, from the Regenerist line, is the way to go. It has the trifecta: it works for all skin types and won’t irritate, has a low price, and actually works to fight signs of aging!
If baggy eyes are your main issue, go with the Pro-X product. It’s like a mini facelift for the eyes that is appropriate for all skin types. However, this one does contain parabens.
The biggest difference with the third product is that it has a slight, shimmery tint that many women didn’t like. In addition, the Total Effects cream has the highest chance of irritating sensitive skin.
Remember to always wear sunglasses when you’re in the sun to protect your eyes and to keep you from squinting, which can cause premature wrinkles. More is not always better. Remember that you don’t need to use lots of skin products – just the right ones – to achieve your goals. Staying hydrated and taking lots of Vitamin C will keep your face and skin healthy.
