Benefits of facial massage

When it comes to massage, it’s easy to forget about the face. Your typical spa massage might include a bit of facial massage, but unless you’re getting a facial, the idea of massaging the face might seem odd.

Facial massage has many benefits, including relaxation, anti-aging, and deep cleansing.

Below, we discuss the benefits of facial massage and review a variety of facial massager machines for home treatment.

Face massager machine benefits

Just like the rest of your body, your face needs exercise to stay looking young and healthy.

When you have tension in your face, you are more likely to develop wrinkles. Just 1-2 minutes of massager per day can help relieve this tension.

People who suffer from acne-prone and/or oily skin should keep facial massage sessions under 10 minutes (overstimulation can cause breakouts).

Those with dry skin can continue for up to 20 minutes, but this is not necessary in most cases.

Regular face massage also improves circulation and increases collagen production. According to dermatologists, a gentle tapping massage can increase your skin’s ability to absorb products like moisturizers and serums.

A good face massage can also effectively cleanse the skin of dead skin cells, makeup, and dirt (more on this below).

A face massage should cover your décolletage (upper chest), neck, and entire face. Make sure to pay special attention to the soft lines around the eyes and mouth.

SKINFUN IPX7 Waterproof Facial Brush ($18.99)

This cleansing face and body scrubber includes five different brush heads and a bi-directional rotating head (that means it rotates clockwise and counterclockwise).

It is 6x more effective than washing your face with your hands.

SKINFUN has two speeds: a low setting for sensitive skin, and a medium setting for “normal” skin.

Regular use will exfoliate the skin, help minimize wrinkles, cleanse pores, and balance oil production.

Features include:

  • Handheld
  • Cordless
  • Can be used in the shower
  • Stops automatically if rotation is blocked
  • Requires 4 AA batteries

Includes 5 brush heads:

  • Facial brush head for gentle cleansing
  • Body brush head for all-over cleansing
  • Sponge head for anti-aging facial massage
  • Metal attachment for all-over body massage
  • Pumice stone for use on feet

Use no more than once per day; and keep in mind that your skin might breakout when you first start using it. This effect is temporary. Make sure to take off the brush head and dry it out after each use. Clean brush heads at least once per week.

Users reported smoother, cleaner skin after just one use.

Clarisonic Uplift Firming Massage Head ($54)

This rubbery head fits onto any Clarisonic Smart Profile. It is appropriate for all skin types including dry and sensitive skin.

The Uplift is an advanced anti-aging tool designed for use on the décolletage, neck, and face.

This electric facial massager uses 27,000 micro-lifting massages to visibly relax muscles in just 3 minutes.

How to use: follow the smart mode timer. Using a gentle massaging motion, begin at the forehead and spend 30 seconds on each of these areas: forehead, each check, jawline, neck, and décolletage.

Treatment should take 3 minutes. Repeat twice per day after applying moisturizer or serum for best results. It is waterproof, so you can use it in the shower.

Consistent use has been shown to help with:

  • Loss of firmness
  • Dullness
  • Uneven texture
  • Fine lines/wrinkles

Users say it feels like a facial massage, and gives them a brighter, perkier look that lasts for several hours. The only downside to this product is that it is incredibly loud.

If you don’t own a Clarisonic device already, the Clarisonic Smart Profile Uplift 2-in-1 Cleansing & Micro-Firming Massage device (pictured above) includes the rubbery uplift head as well as the “revitalizing cleanse brush head.”

The cleansing head provides a deep clean that is 6x more effective than washing with your hands. The cleansing head can also minimize fine lines and shrink pores.

The Clarisonic Smart Profile Uplift 2-in-1 device is available on Amazon for $349.00.

TOUCHBeauty Sonic Vibration Eye Massager TB-1583 ($19.98)

This face massager tool is designed specifically to minimize dark circles and puffiness beneath the eyes. It also improves absorption of eye creams and relives eye fatigue.

TOUCHBeauty is small and very portable; it perfect for people who spent lots of time in front of a computer.

Treatment is soothing.

How to use face massager machine:

The area around the eyes is very delicate, so it’s very important that you read all directions carefully before using. When you begin, make sure your fingers are touching the device’s “smart sensor.”

Place the tool’s head gently against the skin and move it in gentle, circular motions over the skin beneath your eye. Start from the inner eye corner and move slowly to the outer corner.

Apply eye cream and move on to the “gentle vibration” function, which stimulates the skin to help it absorb the product. This step also increases circulation to the area and reduces signs of fatigue.

Recommended use is 1-2 times per day. Do not use for more than 5 minutes at a time.

TOUCHBeauty combines sonic vibration and heat for these effects:

  • Opens pores and increases circulation to the delicate area around the areas
  • Stimulate the production of collagen, which tightens skin and boosts elasticity
  • Massages away puffiness and dark circles
  • Detoxes eye area
  • Minimizes redness
  • Minimizes forehead wrinkles

NOTIME Handheld Cellulite Massager ($29.99)

This portable massage tool uses microcurrent technology and 625nm wavelength phototherapy to rejuvenate the skin.

Like the other products, regular use will increase circulation and stimulate collagen production.

This device also has a “body tightening” mode that aims to decrease the appearance of cellulite.

NOTIME has three intensity levels. It is rechargeable and very portable. NOTIME is appropriate for all skin types.

Face massage for acne scars

Acne is hard to get rid of, but the scars acne leaves behind can be even harder to treat.

Over time, regular massage has been shown to minimize the appearance of scars caused by acne and injury. To treat acne scars, we recommend practicing daily self-massage using a pure natural oil.

You can use coconut oil, almond oil, extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, or any natural oil. You can even use aloe vera gel or fresh tomato juice.

Massage scar tissue for 20 minutes each day using your fingertips. Use firm, circular motions. Be patient, it takes time for new skin to grow!
